Bread
& Roses

Bread & Roses, is a project co-funded by the European Union. Erasmus+ allows us to start a project with teenagers aged thirteen to eighteen. More than a hundred young citizens from Italy, Belgium, France and Romania will work together on a subject that’s still taboo in our society : inequalities related to gender.

We chose to name our project “Bread & Roses” because we wanted a name that represents our philosophy. Bread is a universal food that has been part of human history for over 10.000 years. Everywhere in the world, in all culinary traditions, you can find bread.

Universality is also the main theme of our project : gender stereotypes.

The rose is a truly complex symbol, as it contains totally contrasting meanings. It can mean “celestial perfection and early passion”, “time passing and eternity”, “life and death”, “fecundity and virginity”.

The flower, just as every individual should be considered, is perfect.

Our Goals

Our main goal would be to develop self-awareness and knowledge of others through figurative art and dance, to develop a sensitivity aimed at overcoming gender stereotypes rooted in society and to create an active citizenship for a promotion and diffusion of the equality of individuals.

Active citizenship

Create an active citizenship for a promotion and diffusion of the equality of individuals.

Communication

The use of the body in communication is seen as universal and can be used to express oneself.

Innovative Education

The project aims to experiment with an innovative and multidisciplinary educational methodology that involves youth organizations, dance associations, schools, and local public institutions.
