Over a hundred young citizens from Italy, Belgium, France, and Romania join forces to tackle the taboo of gender inequalities.
The Bread & Roses project, co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program, is carrying out its mission of raising awareness among young people about gender inequalities. More than a hundred young citizens from Italy, Belgium, France, and Romania are actively collaborating on the project.
During one of the project’s meetings, the participants discussed the topic of identity, asking themselves the question “Who am I?”. Thanks to the stimuli provided by the psychotherapist, the young people had the opportunity to reflect on the concept of self and I, opening up an interesting discussion.
In France, the young people have been studying the life and work of Camille Claudel, an important figure in the project. Claudel was a French sculptor who, despite being a talented artist, was largely unrecognized during her lifetime due to her gender. She faced many challenges and obstacles in her career, including being overshadowed by her more famous male colleague and former lover, Auguste Rodin. The Bread and Roses project aims to bring attention to the many women like Claudel who have been unfairly marginalized due to gender inequality.
In Romania, public schools have been involved in the project, and the demand for participation in the Bread and Roses group continues to grow.
The Bread & Roses project represents an important opportunity to combat a taboo that is still very present in our society, offering young people the chance to confront and work together towards the construction of a fairer and more just future for all. The project demonstrates how Europe, through the Erasmus+ program, is committed to fighting gender inequalities, providing young people with the tools to become agents of change.
